Words Of Encouragement In These Tough Economic Times
I ran across this quote and was going to post it on Twitter but it was to big. I thought that it was very pertinent to what was going on with the current economy so here you go.
"Be courageous. I have seen many depressions in business. Always America has emerged from these stronger and more prosperous. Be brave as your fathers before you. Have faith! Go forward!" ~ Thomas A. Edison
I have heard a lot of people compare what is going on with our economy to the great depression. I have heard people say that this will be the worst depression ever. I have heard the Republicans blame the Democrats and the Democrats blame the Republicans.
I think that everyone needs to stop and think for a minute. We can learn a lot from history and history tends to repeat itself. If we look to the history of the United States there is recurring trend.
The people of this country have always pulled together in the face of adversity. The quote above was from about 100 years ago. Are we the same America? I know that we are quite different as far as technological advances, but are we the same in spirit?
Do we still have the moral backbone to stand up for what we believe in? If our country or way of living was threatened could we put aside our petty political bickering so that we could stand together and form a united front.
We have some serious problems that are going to require bi-partisan cooperation. We as a people are going to have to take more interest in our local governments and participate in the Democratic process.
Do you even know who the Senators and House Representatives of your State are? These are the people that are making the decisions that effect all of our lives. It is time that we all take an interest in our future.
Here are a couple of videos that you should watch and then think about what Thomas Paine has to say. The original Thomas Paine was the author of "Common Sense" which was a pamphlet many feel was responsible for the Revolutionary War.
While I don't agree with all his solutions, I think he has hit the nail on the head.
